in new release 3.6 u have feature that if i want to issue unique e-mail id to customer who join as member . so that any order or any problem of that paricular customer should go to that unique e-mail id. so that i can give customer responsibility to that unique e-mail id holder in my company. unique e-mail id should issue by administrator.

they must have decided not to release it, because the article on this is gone now. They did have an article about the upgrade, but now it's gone... wonder when it will truly be out...

As i had mentioned earlier in this thread, I think they plan to release it in the beginning of jan 2009 as a new years release along with some discount for new years.
 
This is what i think !

I'm starting to get jitters. Communiques are getting far apart, announcements withdrawn, no target release dates, not much from support in the way of interaction or updates.
 
Methinks Viart is suffering from a lack of funding and without funds they are paralyzed. It's too bad because the application is getting pretty good. A little investment into docs and modernizing the user interface would make it a killer.
 
Magento's in the rear view mirror, the features and stability are improving quickly. I still consider Magento an alpha stage product - once the performance problems are fixed it may be worth a try.
 
I'd rather see Viart get healthy. I think it may be time to form a users group to help drive the product for our mutual success.

I am not sure but regarding the 3.6 article. Did somebody guess the URL based on previous releases. If so I think it's only fair to wait before judging the article if it was not Viart's intention to go officially live with this article. Once it's live they are fair game for sure

Yes, I also saw the article Sunday under "News" on the home page. It was there briefly. Sounded like some great features.
 
I don't know about the rest of you, but as a seasoned engineer who has been in on a lot of industrial projects, software designs, and technical documentation, I've always liked this saying: Take the time estimate, multiply by three, and change the units. It's supposed to be funny, but taken literally, an example would be 10 minutes becomes 30 hours. Human nature for most of us means that "work expands to fill the time allowed". For some reason most humans are over-optimistic about how much they'll get done and how soon they'll get it done. (Consider Microsoft's amazing two extra years to finally release Windows XP.)
 
Personally, I don't have any reason at all to think that our friends are paralyzed or out of funding, just being human and trying to balance how many features vs. how many bugs vs. delivery date. It's very humbling and a bit scary to trot out a big new release, better tested, that hopefully will please users.
 
I am sending them my best thoughts as they work long hours to pull V3.6 together. I've tried a lot of carts and seriously used four of them over the last few years. I really like ViArt, it's the best in its class.

I couldn't agree more! I'd rather have a really stable release than something that needs updating all the time. for those who like to go this way: try a joomla/virtuemart setup, you'll love it!
as for magento: as promising as it looks, try working with it: it's a nightmare and performance sucks.
having tried a lot of carts I think viart has some really flexible features you sort of get addicted to. there's plenty room for improvements (widgets, css, affiliate system, html editor and custom code insertion) but for the money you pay for it this is a really good system! i am really looking forward to seeing the new release but for now I will just focus on my sales and other back-end issues...

I do agree with your assessment. But it gets a bit worrisome when the last stable release was around 5 months ago excluding the month of december. So 3.6 would have taken around 6 months, half an year for development.
 
What i think is that they took on a lot of feature customizations and they weren't able to handle all of these.
 
I hope they can provide us with some official response as to what is happening with the 3.6 version. I dont think that the company is facing any funding problems , it is just the load of extra customizations which they have undertook.
 
Viart is still the most feature robust cart on the market. No other cart can even compete with it on the same level.

I just went in and paid my fee for Viart to do the upgrade for me so that I can work with it over Christmas to be ready for business in the New Year.
 
And I have had my upgrade confirmed.

You might further notice a significant new feature at Administration > Orders Maintenance > Orders Recover. This new feature allows you to view orders that were not completed, filter them by date and send notification to users. The notification are set by pressing the 'Orders Recover Settings' button and configure notification as shown on the image below:

Furter, select orders for which you want to to send notification using checkboxes and press 'Send All Orders Reminder' button to send notifications to customers. You can filter abandoned orders by date, by status, by reminder sent.

P.s Yes I agree widgets linked to the affiliate program are a must !

One thing not mentioned in the article is that I paid for a new custom block to be added which allows quick entry of products (and importantly options) to be added to a clients basket by item code.
 
e.g enter the code the item can be added to basket quickly and the form reloads ready for the next item. It also places the cursor back into the code box after a product is added for even speedier entry.
 
After a few efforts the block now takes into account options and subcomponenets also. So if a product has options for example it prompts for this info too.
 
We plan to use it for quick entry of orders when taking them on the telephone . One other custom job I plan for next year is the ability to log into the store front end as a client via admin.
 
e.g search for the client in Administration > Site Users then click a button which takes you to a chosen store front as if the client. This allows easy viewing of clients previous orders and also to be able to place an order as if the client using the new block mentioned above for telephone, post or fax orders etc
 
This may not suit everybody e.g those who need track admin updates etc but is works OK for our family business.

Please, note that a downloadable version is now 3.5.33 which will be changed to version 3.6 in a couple of days after final testing procedure.

I think ill wait a couple of days for the final release after it has been tested.
