Its already been quite a while, we have been waiting for the new features.

apparently they're having huge staffing issues, and cannot keep up with things.
Here's a concern of mine... I'm running out of time with my license. They haven't released a new version in a long time, and therefore when it does finally come out, I will have to pay an upgrade fee.

Dan, this is the problem with such pricing schemes.
I have seen this same problem at other commercial softwares.
They just dont release a major version unless most of the people get their upgrade periods expired.
I am thinking about moving to Magento

Dan
The bigger problem is where a payment has been made for a feature that is in this upgrade ?
I wonder whether that mean a free upgrade even if the license has expired?

I am waiting for one feature which has been paid for and that is "Recover Abandoned Carts" Feature.

Normally, the version 3.6 should be available this week.
After I asked for a new feature, they give me that information.

Viart started working on Recover Abandoned Carts feature since 6/9/08
and today its 11/26/08
Its been almost 5 months. That is why i stopped funding any more features. They have still not delivered the first one.

Thats why, sadly we've now left Viart to join a different cart system.

Due to the delay, I am also considering going for another cart. The progress of this cart has staggered greatly.

But can someone recommend something really better than viart?
I have reviewed quite a lot of popular shopping carts but I'm still prefer viart cart

You are right George; it is easy to get frustrated and take rash action but Viart is still my cart of preference.
Even if I never support another feature, what I have is what I need. So I will stay with what works for me.

I'm testing Magento too. But there is a Viart's main, and strong feature that isnt in Magento:
- Good Article System: admin, display, RSS, etc...
This is what makes me the most of visitors from Google...:(

I also have looked into Magento, and it can't do stuff viart can

I agree magento is way behind Viart but they are constantly adding features whereas Viart has come to a halt.
I have been waiting for a PAID feature for 5 months.
If this state goes on, magento will surpass Viart.
I really dont want to move away from Viart but the situation of the releases is very poor.

let me make my point clear, I am not saying the Viart is a bad cart, actually it is the ONLY robust cart on the market which has the most features.
The problem i have with viart is its release schedule. No Roadmap, paid features take months to get implemented.

Our dear Customers,
Firstly, let me apologize for the delay with the release.
I have some information for you regarding a new long release and all your concerns.
1. We are now preparing the final steps to get a release available for downloading. We expect it to be ready by the end of the next week.
2. All the clients who ordered and submitted payments for new features, we'll get a new release free of charge (even though the term of their licenses has expired). If it expires, then we'll prolong it up to the date of the release issuing.
3. Most of features that you discuss in this forum thread have been completed long ago.
4. The delay with the release had to do with tremendous and global changes in the shop structure. Therefore, we required more time than it was expected.
I too have been waiting on some changes to be implemented, some very important ones for our business. I have even been asking for more this week. But I have stopped asking, not because I am fed up waiting, but to give them a chance to release 3.6.
Having worked on the solution provider side of IT for 20 years I know (as many will) the vicious cycle of trying to meet user demands for more functionality, yet remain on schedule.
I appreciate the fact that we can get new functions and customisations developed at all. Many software providers would not do this. I resent the fact that my paid customisations end up as stock functions in future releases - but then again, sometimes they are well priced and it is very hard to complain. One I have just asked for is only $100, although I am actually wondering why the function is not already there, or if many would consider the function I want something that should have been there in the first place for the module to be really effective. But at least ViArt are not telling me or other users to "butt out, take it or leave it".
So now ViArt have clarified the release date, we need to wait a couple weeks more and hope there is capacity at ViArt to resolve any gremlins before Christmas stresses hit.
Good luck ViArt with the upcoming release, and good luck everyone with their new features they should be getting. I am looking forward to mine and ones I am sharing in with other users.

I would like to know what is meant by this... This could mean a huge block on all prior customizations...

Dear Daniel,
Thanks for contacting our support team.
The main delay had to do with new extensive subscription modifications and different access levels throughout the whole site structure.
Please, feel free to contact us on any questions or problems.
With kind regards,
Anjula

I would like to inquire about what you mean by tremendous and global? Could you supply a couple examples?
