Hello,

I am new to this so forgive me if I may have missed the obvious. Having looked at a lot of cart/ecommerce packages out there, I feel that Viart is the best choice. Great documentation, forums, positive customer feedback, and support that gives solutions with clarity.

Having said that, I figured the best way to get my feet wet was to load an instance of Viart ( I using hosting with ICDSoft), create test PayPal business and users accounts in the sandbox/developer area and put the correct information in the Administration > Payment Systems > Edit Payment System area of my Viart installation.

I have the Payment URL set to https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr,
the generated vendor ID in the 'at' section of the parameters area, along with 'sandbox' constant value set to '1' (turns it on).

I had assumed that https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr would be the sandbox version of https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr, but it brings up a screen with this message "To access the PayPal Sandbox, please log in to PayPal Developer Central." rather than a virtual sign-in/processing area where I could sign in with the 'virtual' sellers account I created.

Maybe that is not possible with PayPal's sandbox system, but just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with this.

Thanks,
Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Even with your sandbox account you must verify your account and bank details. Have you done that?

Hello,

Yes, for the Sandbox account the same rules as for the real account are applied. Please try to log in to PayPal Developer Central, and then go testing. And you must verify your account and bank details, too.

Hello DickS, Denis,

From what I see, PayPal Sandox has streamlined their virtual account creation process. Whenever you create an an account, the account's status is 'verified'.

Your input got me thinking. I noticed that the sandobox session has a relatively short time out (about 3-5 minutes). I had been using an instance of Camino to make the purchase and an instance of Firefox to monitor the account.

So I did this- logged into the Sandbox 'buyer' account; jumped to the store's URL using the same browser window (rather than a new tab); bought a copy of 'Lord of the Rings ' checked out as quickly I could and the Viart cart went to the still open session of the sandbox. Processing went through A-OK.

Thanks for your input. I have been trying to standardize on an ecommerce solution to build my Web design business, and this forum's support has been the clincher. Kudos to Eric Caldwell from web-jive.com for some of his behind the scenes help and advice.
