I'm thinking of using Viart for stock images sales, but I'd require watermarks on the shop images. Is this possible or an existing feature?

As I don't want people to steal the large images, the first requirement would be an automated watermark on the large product image.
 
I have thousands of product images and don't want to manually watermark them all!!

Thanx. It's like the Image Magic contribution on OsCommerce. I can insert a PNG file and it automatically adds a watermark on large images. This might be a good feature to incorporate into newer versions.
 

PS - I'm considering digital downloads of the hires photos if we have enough space / bandwidth on the server. But wil initially only have ordering functionality, with manual delivery. I have the current shop in OsCommerce, but it's just too complicated, so I want to redo it in Viart. Watermark functionality would be key though. If you have some kind of a GD class upgrade to your current system that would be perfect.

Also, do you have auto thumbnailing functionality so that product images only have to be uploaded once?

We are expected to include the feature into one of our nearest versions of ViArt.
 
As for auto thumbnailing functionality we have such a feature. Please go to Products & Categories > Edit > Images >Super-Sized Image and click Upload Image. You will see two options: Generate Small Image or Generate Big Image. Moreover, in Product Settings go to Images Settings where you can set the size of the small, large and super-sized images by default.

Is the watermark system included in viart?

I havn't tried it yet but was going to incorporate it into a site Ive built with a lightbox js image gallery slideshow.

Yes, it's a new feature in the latest Viart release :)

At the current moment images in Viart watermarks not when they are uploaded on the site, but when they are displaying on the front-end.
And if you wanna to sell you pictures - you will not be protected from stilling images...
Everebody, who knows the structure of viart - can find out the original filename of picture (i.e. by seeing the name of thumb, because if it will watermarked too - watermark will be bigger than thumb), and then it will be possible to retrieve the bigger image - by direct link...
So. I think it will be better - if ViArt team make an additional option. Watermark images while they are uploading, but not while thay are displaying...
And here is one more plus. Watermark can be placed on every picture. Such as tiny, thumb, big or super. And it's size will be correct for every these pictures. Bigger for big and super pictures, and small for tiny and etc...

It's called Photoshop. Point it at a directory of images and let it put watermarks on them for you. There are many other programs that will do the same.
