As the title really. It would be great to be able to turn the store off when you are upgrading the store for example. I have this feature with CubeCart and its great for when im upgrading or customising something so that the customers dont run into any issues while im doing these things.

What you could do. eg if you're away on holiday, is via the global settings, to select hide add to cart button. Customers could still see you site but not checkout.

Although that would annoy the hell out of me as a potential customer. Right now the best solution would be to just creat an index.html page with your message.

This is otherwise known as Maintenance Feature.

I agree, I have this feature in CLickcart Pro, very useful.
 
Even leaves a message to customers to say Store Is Off-line for maintenance.

Yes, this is needed for sure and I hope it can be added soon.

Now im back and seriously considering Viart again and i see theres a new release since my last visit and yet this still hasn't been added!

I setup my shop at

and under maintenance page at
http://www.<myshopname>.com/under

When Viart does an upgrade it appears they create a folder with the current files - eg: /myshop3.4.2/ and point the shop there in Global Settings.
 
Upload all the files and make customisation adjustments and then change Global Settings back to the root.
 
I doubt this is actually what you want but it may help?

What we need is in global settings a checkbox and a html editor box so we can put up an offline message of our own.
If viart would confirm they intend to add this simple but necessary feature in the next update we will all be happy.

Thanks for the advice guys, im sure it will come in handy. JR has the right idea and im suprised with the new releases since i was last here that this hasn't been implimented.

This is actually Steve, Andy's brother-in-law. Theres certainly no plans to at the moment but if i can get my head around it all then hopefully in the future
