While we are all giving our opinions here about the features/focus of the cart system, I'll chime in too :)

I really think they should dump the forum feature (use VBulliten if you have to) and the merchant feature, what idiot (sorry if there is one here) would allow other people to post their products on their own site... dunno.

I don't agree with the following.

4) Product databases are disjointed. This is OK if you can import/export to them.
5) Import and export work differently - you cannot import a file you exported

The products are in one table.

When you setup the excel file you can use Navcat software and do one massive upload in seconds.

on2DVD thanks for that I will download and install it rather than go with the Viart online demo and see what happens.

Maybe thay are they are listening!

One of my guys just mentioned the latest download is accepting decimal quantities. Bug note: entering <1 on the list or detail pages rounds up to 1, chanqing qantities of to <1 on cart page deletes the item from the cart.

Rendering price breaks: We know how to make the card process price breaks, we don't know how to let the client know he can get cookies cheaper by the dozen.

The is no clear and simple way to render this to the customer.

Joe,

....The products are in one table.

The product tables should be extendible to include product information that is not core to the operation of the cart. You can do this by creating additional product fields when you export. The exporter then grabs the data and creates a nice csv file. If you update that csv file, you can't simply import the data back into the databases. Figuring out how to do it using Navicat or other SQL tools is OK for developers, but out of the realm for shop administrators -- they manage their stores using excel and the admin UI.

We see this as 'finishing work'. If you try other carts with extendible fields, they will handle the import/export automatically.

Joe, I'm sure that using this program will more than make you happy. It's 90% open source coding, which means VERY flexible.

Wazoodle, When uploading your .csv file, select the fields you want extra as product option and it will create a new field and import it with the header name you gave it on the .csv file.

Functionality with this system is SUPERB. I'm so happy with all of the features.

Thanks for stepping in. People are quick to point, but it's just because of something that maybe they don't quite understand fully. The stupidity was in the action, not the person. Coming to the forum here to gripe on a product with so many loyal customers, you would expect that. And as Chris says, "he chuffed" seems very demeaning when ViArt, in my opinion, has done a great job with this product. For 300 dollars... I couldn't even dare ask for more

It is interesting following this thread through.

One thing I learned very early on was to work with Viart where I wanted changes - I won't list everything they have done for me some of which I paid for and some was gratis.

Some existing features are the result of code I - and others - commissioned.

What makes me feel tired at the end of reading this as that it would mostly be irrelevant if you just got to know the Viart people and got them to sort our your problems.

I am running down a US sourced site and hope in due course to persuade all my customers across to my British Viart site; too much SEO means I can't just shut it down.

But that software had barely moved forward on the 2.5 years I have had it. In 9 months Viart had move forward in leaps and bounds.

I am in the process of working with other Viart user to get more custom coding done.

The great thing is no-one is forcing anyone to buy the program. And with the free trial no-one is conned.

So my message is simple: you can participate and be part of the 'revolution'. Or stay here and complain.

I am going to another thread. Feels great to be British!!! Yahoo!

I am proudly from the United States. One thing great about Viart, is that it has a Vast assortment of cultural users of the software.
I too have contributed to the software with the use of Filtered Exports for products which is now available for all. I think it's great. We all are part of the creation of the software and many new features are being added with new updates solely because of the fact that we contribute.
Who better to create the software, than the users who use it daily?

Thanks guys for your help and your testing that has helped me with this. I downloaded the new version and it works so either 'the bug' has been fixed or this has been put back to the way it was.

Just remember we spoke with Natalia on online chat who had her support team check and agree the online demo was not working.

My only issue was how this was calculating. When you read the replies above its amazing the qty of replies were in fact by people attempting to help and by people defending something that was now obvious buggy. Lets stick with helping people rather throwing insults. These actions only make yourselves look bad.

Overall this system is brilliant and the best part is the products are in one table and using Navcat software I am able to upload a heap of data in seconds. Thanks for listening and fixing this issue.

Lmfao.. well, I would have to say that you're one funny dude. You have no idea of how you say things, and how you immediately take avenge at the company rather than trying to work it out. Nonetheless, it wasn't people throwing insults as much as people standing up for a company they feel deserves to be stood up for. I'm happy you've found yourself with a solution to your issue, and as we've said, yes... the system is brilliant and very inexpensive Smile

Dan the funny and strange person here is yourself.

Do one of two things either help people or mind your own Business. Your replies have not helped.

If you have an issue with this post and what was posted and how it was posted carefully read through this again to get your answers.

Unreal.

Hey Joe... that message was actually a nice one. What I was laughing is how quickly you said it was not a good software, and then turned around to say it was brilliant. And all so quickly changing. "I'm happy you've found yourself with a solution to your issue..." that was nice Smile Don't take offense to me agreeing with you "yes....the system is brilliant..." and don't take "I'm happy for you..." as an insult...

Dan build a bridge and get over it.

Seriously give up. Where did I state in this thread that in your words the software was not good software?

Unreal.

What turned out to be a bug you perceive it otherwise.

It makes me wonder the trouble you attract with your thinking.

We are our experiences after all. I don't need to say more I am sure you know what I am talking about. Just take a look at the time that has passed and the experiences you have encountered that makes you react the way you have.

I am glad your done.
