I'm exploring the rewards feature and noticed 'credits' there as well. What is the difference between points and credits?

I'm assuming the difference has to be that the credits are in dollars so you can issue money credit to the customer? I'm still not sure of this either, but that's what I've been using it for now.

I use it to give free product.
When the customer buys a product he receives points. The points accumulate with further orders.
At some point there are enough points to pay for a product outright. At that point the check out recognises this and aske whether the customer would like to use his accumulated points to buy the product.
For example the customer has 500 points.
The customer buys 3 products with redemption values of 400, 800 and 670 points. The checkout will offer the first product (the one worth 400 points) against a redemption of points leaving 100 in the customer's account.
If the customer had ordered 2 products each worth 250 points each both would be offered for redemption, clearing the customer's points account.
There are more features to points than this - it gives a glimpse into how I use them.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info, that will get us started.
I buy from Adagio tea regularly, and they offer points which are applied to a gift certificate. You have to earn at least 100 points which will then be eligible for a $10 GC. I'm assuming the the "credit" option will be more like this?
