I would to have wishlist, gift registry, wedding registry etc. functionality in ViArt.
When does ViArt plan to implement this feature ?

I recently created a wedding registry at OurWishingWell.com ( http://www.OurWishingWell.com ) and thought that it was great - highly recommended.

It looks good Greg but I feel the feature must be in Viart and maintain consistency of style and presentation
For me the wish list is a place for customers to leave a note of something they 'wish' they could buy on my site. A way of gathering ideas for stock building.
But a gift wish list would also be very good.
It would make sense for the visitor to be able to click the item in the wish list and be taken to that product and buy - and they would then also have the option of gift wrap, etc.

Hello everyone,
We are about to include this functionality in one of the next releases of ViArt Shop. Just wait a bit, and you will have "My Wishlist", "Gift", "Wedding Gift" options to choose.

Will it be possible to use only the Wishlist and disable checkout/shoppingcart ? I would like to have a webshop were people get a virtual amount of money wich they can use to make a wishlist wich they can bring to the physical store or can login at the store and have their list printed on location.

Yeah, we paid $$ back in September to have them create the gift registry for our website and now they say they are going to release it January as an upgrade. We paid the money, and everyone gets it for free...fair? I don't think so...

Hello, Pippa
Let us try to explain our policy for customizations. If a client requests some customization to a standard functionality of ViArt Shop, we are doing our best to minimize the cost as much as possible for him. Instead, we add the functionality to our standard version, so all our clients can benefit from the functionality.
If a client wants the functionality entirely for himself (as an exclusive one), then the cost of customization will be several times higher (our standard rate is $25 per hour and can be estimated at $1000 and more). By the way, the cost of Gift Registry functionality is currently estimated at $1200 (taking into consideration the time spent) and this is not yet the final cost.
Also, please keep in mind that in case the functionality is added directly to the site you may face problems should you decide to upgrade to the latest version and adding the same functionality to your other shops (if you have any) as the functionality won't be tested properly to comply with all other ViArt Shop functionalities.
Therefore, if a client wants to receive the functionality that is not included in our standard version, then he should pay money (either quite a small amount and it will be included in the standard version or a large sum of money and the fucntionality will be a unique one). Otherwise, the functionality won't be implemented or one has to wait until someone decides to pay for it and it will be included in one of our releases.
So, if you are in great need of this functionality and the time is critical for you, we can, of course, add the functionality directly to your site before the release. But please carefully consider all the above mentioned factors.
With kind regards,
ViArt Support Team

As you know, I have had custom functionality that has since been incorporated and, at the time, I responded the same as Pippa. In hindsight I don't now have a problem with this as I have the crucial functionality that I need.
I would like to raise again a thought expressed in the forum fairly recently. That when something like this is requested it could be offered to be shared by all who want it - if four people said they would share the cost of the Gift Registry it would be a great way to fund this work and ease the budget of one individual - and then I would propose a fair period of time before it was offered generally.
There is benefit from the way you work and feel that you could probably fund many more other interesting developments from a broader consensus and contribution.
Just an idea

Hello
If I can recall, I did propose that Viart setup a "Proposed Features Sponsorship Program"

As far as the gift registry functionality is concerned, I was never offered the higher rate of money to have the functionality all to myself- only given an amount and a time frame of 3 weeks. Never was there mention that this functionality would be added to the next version or that you all wait until one your current users ask for it before you work on it and add it to the next version. It seems to me that part of your job should be figuring out what functionalities your customers want and be working on them for the next version instead of waiting for someone to pay for them and then add them.
How many other people besides Christopher0 and I have reacted the same way? It's a sign that perhaps you all should look at what Ibn Saeed has proposed, and come up with another way of funding.

I understand ViArt's view, however do agree that collaboration should be made prior to making a purchase of customized work.
Again, we all share the same needs. It's business, and just because you may have a different business as someone else, or different line of product, you never know what your future needs will be.
HOwever, on my end, I feel that Viart needs to recognize that everyone here has purchased the software (most), and that the people here are the reason that they're in business. Custom software, and fair pricing, and 3-5 day option to contribute to customized software requested by others would be nice. They can then help in the collaboration of updates and help to get more people involved to allocate the costs out.

Sorry to dig up an old post, but what is Viart's response to the matter?

There is some current functionality in the beta release for the wishlist.

This appears to address a gift registry [will please many, no doubt!] but, it seems, not to be an area to do something like this "Feature Requests" which is a wish list to me
If the Standard Shop had a forum that could address the "Wish List".

I don't understand this wish list at all. To me, it just seems to be the same as a place to add things to purchase later.
What about a true wishlist that would actually have a code to add products to someone else's wish list and to view someone else's wish list? Maybe enter their username and enter a secrete passcode or something and the creator of the wish list can set rules such as ability to display a message to the person(s) and selecting who can use it and to what extent such as allowing users to view only items they have added, etc.
As far as what's on there already..
The admin's should be able to see what people have in their wish lists. Whether going to the customers account information and/or going to a report that can be filtered by user name to get a list of common wanted items and so forth...
As Dan mentioned, user can create a list - this will then have its own unique log on where others can view list, see what's been bought etc

See, this is what I want and others are following suit to agree. I would like Viart to respond as well with their thoughts

In the beta version there is available a new page 'wishlist.php' but there are no any links to it in the menu so you can access it only if you manually type the page name in you browser bar or add it to your menu list and on this page you can search your friends wishlist items by typing your friends email address.
Please note that you can search only items which marked as 'Allowed Search' for wishlist type you have selected when adding some wishlist items. Wishlist type settings you can edit at 'Administration > Products > Wishlist Types'.
There are also available CMS settings for wishlist page and wishlist block settings for each user group on user home page.
Hope it helps.

We probably all grasp the menu issue but it is the implementation of the wish list that matters.
Are you saying that a restricted product list can applied to a particular customer's wishes by creating a special user group for that customer?
Then in practical terms, how would you ensure that all this customer's friends are allocated that customer type?
Using "Wish List Types" how would the content of a ".. Type" be determined in a real life situation?
Or is there something I have not understood?

Just keep with wishlist simple. Atleast get it into the Shopping cart.
Why do we have to argue on it.
TOCDCO
22 Feb 2008 5:01 PM
It's not the point of arguing it, but it's not worth having it in there if it cannot be useful for us.
SajMalik

Dan - stay with it; simple is what other carts have.
I will ??contribute to excellent - not simple!
