I am currently in the market for a new shopping cart and was wondering if there were any plans to include a function to export sales order data into QuickBooks?

It should not just export sales, it should export customers, sales, invoices

All information is exportable for the most part and therefore should be easily loaded into quickbooks

How about having the option to attach a CSV file (with customized fields) to order notification emails? So that when you receive an order notification, you can just save the attached file and import it into quickbooks?

I agree that this would be a key feature, but of course we would be able to export these items with the custom fields AND be able to re-name the headers if needed. This would enable us to utilize more than just quickbooks

This does tie ViArt down to one product, would OFX format be better?
You may wish to look at http://www.accountz.com if you have clients using a variety of OS's. Highly recomended.

CSV just means comma separated values. It isn't very product specific. However I would imagine OFX would be more suitable for exporting this kind of data, since CSV isn't formatted very well for transactions - I haven't tried either for importing into Quickbooks yet, but I plan to - possibly today. I'll report back how it goes.

Dang. It looks like the only file format Quickbooks can use for importing transactions is IIF. It is not a complicated format - but Viart doesn't really export anything like it. Each product has to be on a separate line from the customer name and info, and each row has to start with TRANS (for the main transaction), SPL (for each product) or ENDTRANS (to end the transaction).

It would be REALLY helpful if there were the option to export IIF files from Viart's order management page! Or even something in a similar format that could be easily converted using macros or find/replace, or something.

I urge viart to include this feature into Viart.

Of course when you demand a QuickBooks integration, there are other accounting packages around the world that are also used - to be fair to all their users Viart would need integration for all!

I run a larger store and multiple stores at that and rely on Microsoft Dynamics (GP). I have it automatically pulling from my database, but this procedure was a large project costing nearly 30k to totally implement.
 
I did utilize quickbooks prior, and the csv worked fine out of ViArt, but that was version 3.2 I believe.

Quickbooks is the widely used accouting package for small businesses.

As is Sage in the UK

there are all kinds of conversion tools available when your accounting program does not support csv., so this should not really be a problem?

Failed to export order #1 because some or all of the purchased products could not be created/found in QB

Hey, I'm starting a shopping cart online with a current storefront. They are using Quickbooks. From the posts, it sounds like Viart isn't a good solution? Were you able to get your data into QB without problems?
 
the Intuit website recommends quite a few other carts, but I dont' want to reinvent the wheel and learn another new program if I don't have to.
