I read somewhere that you run a multisite viart setup. Can you tell me whether it's possible to have a block running in the greeting part of both sites. For some reason this doesn't work for me...

Yes, I do indeed run a multi store setup. If you set up a custom block, you'd have to code it into the greeting, but yes that's definitely possible. I've done it before.
