I just add slideshow jpgs of individual items in descriptions So a slideshow covering all items is different however a way may be to add a slideshow to a custom block then use cms to drop it where you want it on home page,

One way of doing this is to create a slideshow javascript link in the page or custom block which references the product images in /images/products/large(or small/super).
 
The javascript should look at the directory for its images because you dont want a script that has to be set up by referencing each image individually. By referencing the folder if you add products then the slideshow automatically changes as the images increase.
 
Something along the lines of

might do or have a Google.
