ViArt has agreed to a really inexpensive customization. This customization would allow all product IMAGES you upload to be available to be viewed on all pages so that no manual work is needed to display these images.
This means that we can still use the size generator when uploading images to be available no matter what site you're on.
What's the cost? That's the best part. It's only 50.00!!! This should be a must need for ALL multi-site customers.
Please let me know who's interested. I'll be telling ViArt to go ahead with this at the end of business day tomorrow.

As my site is very large I have been creating subdirectories to break up my image files for easier management - so I am not sure that uploading would work for me.
However, I am happy to share the cost with you as we need to keep Viart working on ease of use and it might benefit me one day.

I expect, Dan, that most people do not really understand the real value of this

Yeah... seems that way. I would assume there's probably not very many people utilizing multi-site anyhow. Would be useful to anyone that is using it in my opinion.

Sorry everyone, I plan to have 4 sites and by the sounds of it this would help. But I am not sure what you mean. Are you referring to one set of images to cover all 4 sites from one central directory or is this something different as at the the moment we copy the images over to each directory for every product.
Thanks for your patience !

Yes, the problem is that when uploading images, it's only functional on that site you load to. What I've proposed is the ability for the entire link to display so that no matter what site it's on, you can benefit from being able to display this image on any site.
If you find this useful, please let me know.

Sound great to me. Do you want any money from me. If so how much.
Just one question would any existing data need to be reloaded or will the entire link automatically show for a new source after the changes have been.
In other words just so I know in the meantime will this only work for newly added images (which is still great).
If the answer is no I suppose once only we could .....
export the 3 image fields (links) to excel use the find and replace function e.g
do a find on images/tiny/ (any part of field search)
replace with
www.mychosenimagelocation.com/images/tiny/
then import back in
Do you think this would work?
Then we could carry on with new kit.

Yes, it will only work with future uploading of products. Products currently will have to be changed via exporting as you suggested.
As far as fees go, please hold off and I'll inform you of the completion and how you can split the cost. I will have you share in the cost, not much, and then I can re-imburse the difference btwn those that have contributed via the new site launching this week.
