We have a need to turn off shopping features (prices, add to cart buttons, cart access, etc.) and make the store a catalog only for anonymous users.
Then the admin needs to be able to create user accounts within the admin, and remove all ability for public users to create their own accounts. When admin-created user is logged in, all shopping features become available.
Any chance this is in the works?

Hi,
There is an available option in the products settings how to 'Display Products' and it has three values 'For all users', 'Only for logged in users', 'Without prices for non-logged users'. In your case you can use the last one.
When you go to 'Administration > Customers > Profile Settings / Types > Edit Type' there is an available section 'Account settings' where you can select if a user can open or update the account.
