I would like to hear more from you guys. I think this would be an easier way of collecting funds for new features.

Hello
I have contacted Viart Support regarding this way of raising funds.
They have agreed. I have asked for their Paypal account so that as soon as $300 have been pledged, the funds will the transfered to Viart's Paypal Account.

Good idea Ibn. When is viart starting the development on this? Once they get full payment? Did they quote a delivery timeframe? How do we handle if we each pledge $50 and we come up short? Or if we reach our goal and someone else wants to pledge as well?
Thanks

Hello viart.customer
When the pledge reach $300, the total amount will be delievered to the Paypal Account of Viart (if they provide one) or my paypal account.
After the payment is made, Viart will begin its development.
Also, if the total pledge does not reach $300 within 25 Days, those who have pledge will get their Money back.
The funds are only sent to the Collector when the Funds reach the desired amount.
=============================
What is Fundable.com?
Fundable.com lets groups of people pool funds to make purchases or raise money.
Similar to online auctions, Fundable's pages are created by people who use this site. Each project has a description of how much money needs to be collected and what it will do. Once enough pledges (not payments) have been collected, Fundable turns them into real payments and sends the total to the project's organizer.
No one takes a risk when making a pledge: if a collection expires before reaching its total in pledges, Fundable deletes all pledges and never charges money. This lets you participate in a group purchase or fundraiser without worrying about what other people will do. No one pays until and unless everyone else makes a pledge.
How much does Fundable cost?
Starting a collection or making a pledge is completely FREE.
Completed collections (and only completed collections) have a 7% fee taken from their totals.
Remember, there is no cost to set up a collection. No one pays anything if a collection expires
===================
When you try to Pledge any amount, this is what Fundable shows at the Payment Page.
===================
You are making a pledge, NOT A PAYMENT, of $10.00 for Recover Abandoned Carts Feature for Viart Shopping Cart.
Your pledge will only turn into a payment IF AND WHEN this collection reaches its goal. Otherwise, it will be deleted.
==================
Pledge can be made both through Paypal or Credit Card.

I did think about this, but at the moment, we actually have a order status for cart not compleated - so email is sent to customer saying purchase has not been compleated and to call / email payment or feedback

Why don't we use one of the groups Viart shop to collect money? Saves us the 7% .

Thanks for the pledge.
Its not required that one pledge $50. pledge can be from $10.00 to any amount.
Now the target is:
to finish, you need: $200.00
OR 20 pledges of $10.00
OR 10 pledges of $20.00
OR 5 pledges of $40.00
DickS? What Viart Group?

I've just added $50 to the pot.
One thing, can we have an option in the admin added where these abandoned cart email reminders are sent automatically after x days?
I don't see the reason for a manual approval process. If someone takes the time to add a product to their cart, then create an account, they are a very hot lead and should be followed up with.
Considering that the average shopping cart abandonment rate is around 50-70% (50-70% of people don't complete the cart) a manual approval is going to add another daily chore to our already busy lives.
Thanks!

Hello all - I don't really need this as my "lost" orders are rare so I have no problem manually chasing.
However, to join the trend to keep Viart moving forward would it be alright to chip in just $10 to help it along?

Hello
Thanks for the pledge, any amount helps out.
That is the point Chris, If this sort of feature was not available in Oscommerce(as a seperate addon), I would not have been able to know which and why customers have abandoned their carts in the first place.

Hello
$50.00 is not fixed.
The minimum one can pledge if $10.00.
You can even pledge the entire amount. It can be any amount above $10.00

OK I'll pledge $10.
I have another shop (the one I had prior to coming to Viart) and I can see the lost order numbers (created when the customer clicks to go to order creation) and that they are very few, fortunately; I am happy though to support this development as I am sure I must get *some* benefit

Hello
Thanks for the pledge :)
I have requested Viart to have an option to make a thread Sticky such as "New Feature/Addon Sponsorship" thread.
Denis answered:
==========
Hello Ibn Saeed,
Unfortunately we can't do it right now as this option available only for latest releases and viart.com is not yet upgraded.
But when we finish our site upgrade later this month then it will be possible.
With regards,
Denis

Pledge for 20.00 USD. We rarely have abandoned carts and when it does happen it's captured immediately. E-mail sent plus follow-up to the customer from our call center representative.
