I have set-up the paypal integration per the manual and the info in the edit payment system screen. It have also turned on the auto return and IPN notifications. I am using the PayPal sandbox testing environment and Paypal is acknowledging the order and the payment, and the administrator is receiving the emails that the order was placed.
I am checking out without creating an account. The checkout information from the previous order shows in the form fields and not clear from the previous order. I then type over this information with the correct test user information and continue. I am redirected to paypal so I can log into my buying test account.
I get the correct transaction pages in the test environment but when I confirm the purchase and am returned to my website I get the following error: An error: "Transaction status is FAIL" occurred while processing your order. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused."
When I looking at the orders reports the order appears but I cannot determine what caused the error and where to go from here.
looked in the forum and only found a posting from a person using version 2.8. I would like to believe that any issues that were corrected in that version were brought over into version 3.2.
Please help me resolve this issue.
Thanks
Ralph

Two things spring to mind when I looked at your question.
1. Have you tried to order from your website using another computer?
2. Pretty much the same as above, but have you tried clearing your cookies/private details

I tried to order from another computer and the process was completely different. I had to login to paypal and do the payment transfer however, I was never returned to my website, even though auto return is on in Paypal.
I am not sure what this is telling me.

Did the order fail or was it successful in your admin?
It sounded like your checkout page was not picking up the new buyer information that you had input, which is why I wondered if you would have a different experience from another computer.
My experience is that the sandbox environment is so cranky that I tend to test live and just refund myself... worth a try..

The only thing that shows under "admin -> orders maintenance" is that the order was placed. All of the orders I have created thru sandbox show on this screen as order was placed. I had 2 orders that failed.
I believe there should be a complete trail from order was placed thru to shipping. Am I correct. If so, my process is not getting very far.
Any additional halp will be appreciated.

I have exactly the same issue. I posted it to support, but didn't receive an answer yet. Also tested without creating an account and got exactly the same error message.
Hope support will post the solution here!

I solved my issue; I made a copy/paste mistake in the PDT token. I followed all the steps from the manual and it works OK for me now. Good luck!
