I was wondering if anyone knows the TOTAL WEIGHT Variable Source to pass from the Viart Payment System to Paypal?

hey birdman, how does it pass variables if you leave it blank? I have to have total weight to figure shipping costs.

My setup is slightly unconventional in that my product qtys vary dramatically and do not increment equally either. So I forgo the standard qty? option and am using the options and values section.
The values in each of the option carry the required qty. So for my option Qty the values in the option section would be something like 25, 50, 100,250,500,1000 and so on.
Parallel to the Values in the option section is a box that carries weight value, and I indicate how much 25 units weigh, how much 50 units weigh etc. This is in the same section where Stock level is indicated.
From what I understand, the Weight value from this section does get included in determining the shipping cost.
I hope this makes sense.

It makes sense, but is it really convenient to go through a 16,000 product CSV and alter each rate? What a large headache for a simple solution of corrective coding for things that should work in the first place.
While this shipping problem is being reviewed/fixed/questioned, we are reviewing other software packages (which kind of sucks)

Did you try to speak to ViArt, perhaps there is a better way.

yep. still on speaking terms with Viart Support. The only remedy I've heard out of a 2+ week issue is going to cost $100 hour and custom PHP. We find that hilarious for a php-e-commerce software that needs CUSTOM shipping modules.

Apologies guys! Most of out products are Drop Ship, so this makes it easy for Paypal payments. If you use the patch listed for version 3.6 (Thanks to Viart Support and Natalia),

2. Set these values:
Parameter Name: weight <<make sure this is lower case.
Type: Variable
Parameter Source: weight_total_2
This will pass the total weight to Paypal and it will figure the shipping cost.

Tkx drav... would work for us if paypal calculated the rates ??? but they do not... All is passed to canada post / fed ex / ups... all paypal recieves is the totals submitted from the software that recieved the actual quote....
Which still puts me/ Us back in the same hole.....
Maybee some day they will get it some what worked out ?????

Yw... It calculates the rates based on total weight?? Of course, it feels like a blind cost on checkout, but we've had no customer complaints to date. (knock on wood)
