There is an option an the foot of the note:
' Send notification to user '
I presumed that this, checked, would send a copy of the note to the user. But it does not.
Is my presumption correct?
If so, what am I missing?

I have resolved my problem with this.
However, there is the matter of formatting.
This is a simple text input and does not even retain line breaks unless html is used - - <BR>.
I want to leave the message for the customer to view; I also want my staff to be able to enter formatted notes - even if only rich text.
I can enter and read html messages but customers and staff cannot - seems sadly lacking in a simple matter. Any thoughts?

Oddly enough, I would say any field that's possible to hold html, should then be enabled with the WYSIWYG editor which would then be turned on when you select it in the global settings.
