when I set up the product for a cd how do I give people the option of buying either the physical CD or to download the mp3 version? do I have to set up seperate products for them? Also how do I show both options on the same page?

Hello,
You can use 'Components & Options' facility available for every product.
Thanks,

Not exactly the most helpful answer you could give... I too am interested in this feature but that answer means nothing to me. Can you be a bit more descriptive? Especially as the manual is so... 'lacking'

Hello... I, too am interested in setting up both physical and downloadable products. I have added one product and have also gone to the 'Components & Options' section. In the 'Components & Options' section, I added a checkbox Option called "Format" and added Option Values of 'download' and another value of 'ship'. I also set the prices here. Now, when I view my shop online, I can see the two options available, however, when I choose one, the price is added to the price of the product I had to setup in the Product page.
In other words, if my product has a price of 19.00 and I choose the download format, the shopping cart adds 19.00 and the download cost of 1.00 for a total of 20.00.
Can you please explain to me what I should be doing? What I have done for now is to change the product price to 0.00
thanks so much,
pattij

Hello,
Actually, there are three possible way outs.
First of all, whatever the case, you should create a product and an option like you did. The only note is that you have to make it required (tick of file ' Option Required' field).
Then, you can set different prices for option values. Say, your physical CD costs $19 and downloadable CD costs $1. In that case you have three alternatives:
1. you set main product price to $0, download - $1, CD - $19;
2. you set main product price to $1, download - $0, CD - $18;
3. you set main product price to $19, download - -$18, CD - $0.

Hi, Catherine,
Everything worked great!
I have one slight problem, though. One of my products will be offered as a Special Offer so I added the product and all of the options. It looks great! However, now on the home page, the Special Offers section is displaying the price of 0.00. How do I set a Special Offers price? I can't find any information on this.
Also, can you point me in the right direction for how to use components and subcomponents?
Thanks so much for your help,
pattij

One last thing, I also need to be able to sell each of the items in the bundle as a seperate entity, I would like to keep that grouped togethersomething similar to:
Name of CD (option to buy the digital or physical version)
- song 1 (puchase seperately)
- song 2 (purchase seperately)
- song 3 (purchase seperately) .... etc
has anyone some specific advise there? thanks!!

Hi,
You can do the following. Go to Options and Components section, add new Option. Please choose the Checkboxes list in Option Control Line. In Option Values add “CD” and then “Song 1”, “Song 2”, etc, typing also the prices for each product. Save the Option and go to the home page. Now you can either choose the CD or each song separately.
You will have something like this:
[] CD (+ $20.00)
[] Song 1 (+ $1.00)
[] Song 2 (+ $1.00)
[] Song 3 (+ $1.00)
With the kindest regards,

Hi,
In order to set the price for your Special Offer, please go to Section General and type the price of your Special Offer in the field Options Price. Options Price is set in case some options are not available for several blocks, but you need to set the price (as in case with Special Offer). In other words, Options Price is shown in addition to the main product price in the sections where options are not displayed, e.g. Special Offers, Top Sellers, Related Products, etc.
Then go to the Special Offer section and mark the checkbox Add This Product to Special Offers Section. Now you will see your Special Offer Product on your home page with the price you set in the field Options Price.
With best regards,
