This is always the issue, Ibn Saeed, we get ready to proceed and than all comes to a stop for want of commitments.
This is the best single development this year to improve customer satisfaction and the chance of a higher level of sale completions.
Viart will make it highly customisable with the modular approach. And, it is unlikely to be availably on general release for a long time.
Let's please, have commitments so that this goes ahead!!!

Thank you Ibn Saeed.
You have now had my reply that included my response to get this feature moving to a successful outcome.
As below:
=============================
We had six say yes on the prior thread - perhaps the missing three have not yet seen the latest entries.
I have added a new thread in the expectation that, seeing their names, they will say something so that we know where we are:
on2dvd : eyestrain :Rishit_Khandelwal : tell us ...
=============================
This feature is one of those key improvements that we need but, given that Viart said that it demands a lot of work, it may not appear at all for a long time if it does not start with a user customization - and one that the contributors will benefit for some time before others get the use of it.
Even so, $600 is quite a lot* for 2 or 3 people but very small beer for 6 or more!
Chris
As a Brit $100 cost me very much more than it did a year ago, due to exchange rate deterioration of the £stg, so the commitment I am happy to make shows that I really feel this will benefit us.

Let me think about this for a few days, I may considering chipping in.

Can we ask everyone to look again at this - the benefit will be worth much more than the investment cost and, we could have the improvement for just a few dollars each if many of us shared.
If you do want to join but $100 is too much, why not say how much you can afford and, perhaps, we will have enough interest to be able to reduce the individual costs?
Please tell us whether you want to share and what your budget is.

Chris and Saeed: Can I put a plan on the table to get this under way.
Each of us pay ViArt $200 and the customisation can begin.
If anyone wants to get in on the customisation they can at $60 (via a $20 contribution to each of us to our PayPal accounts).
We then inform ViArt to also release the customisation to them once it is available.
So we take a risk of paying $200 each if no one else contributes. Or we eventually pay less than $200 if others come on board. If more than 7 others come on board (which probably won't happen) we end up only paying $60 like the other contributors. If more than 7 come on board we pay less than the other contributors, but hey we made it happen so what the heck - good for us.
One small complexity, Dan offered $50 good will contribution (thank you Dan), so maybe we consider this the first contribution post-our payment of $200 each to Viart to get things started.
Comments please.

Five5, I have had a number of customizations done recently which have cost us quite a lot. My partner asks whether we should keep spending in this area for now.
I am so convinced that this is very important that we have agreed to go for it but he is not happy spending as much as $200 just now - especially with the fall in value of the £stg.
There were originally six of us and $100 was OK. I would be able to persuade my partner to agree to $120 - that just needs one more person on board at $70 given Dan's generous input.
If we can get one more person to join us at $70 then I am OK to go ahead. That person would be getting a really great deal out of this.
Then, your idea of offering it at $60 [make it $70 as a new contributor might as well wait] is an excellent one.
And I would be happy to split any later contributions with EVERY original contributor no matter how much they put in.

No problem Chris - let's wait a bit longer and see what happens.
As you say, one more contributor agrees to come on board and we can fire the starting pistol, but still give others the opportunity to get in on the OPC act - maybe more will be interested when they know the functionality is due to be released and step up quickly or miss out for quite a while.

IBN Saeed
This has to move forward
I have explained to my partner how valuable this feature is and we will up our contribution to $160 if this will get us to the starting post.
It seems that this means $160 from me, you and Five5 and from Dan $50 and Dio $70.
That's $600?
Chris

I would be happy with that. And if someone else wants to come in prior to deployment, we can cut them in somehow.

- FoxtrotDomains?
- eyestrain?
- Rishit_Khandelwal?
Dan has told me that he will up his contribution to $75 - I have passed this onto Ibn Saeed.
The next VIART upgrade is expected to be end January, so this feature is likely to be exclusive to us for a long time.
If anyone else now wants to join this I suggest saying so now
Then we will know how much we are all putting in.
Ibn Saeed was the originator for this so no doubt he will manage it though VIART. Thank you Ibn Saeed for all your work on this.

Hello
I wont be able to chip in any money in this feature for now.
SajMalik
30 Nov 2009 8:14 AM
Thank you for that Ibn Saeed - it does change things a little. Nevertheless I can understand how finances are changing in the current climate.
I am still very keen to have this feature but can only do this with others.
It puts us back a bit but still achievable
Five5 $185 *
Dio $ 70
Dan $ 75
[Dan is making the offer to support us which is appreciated].
I will up mine to $185 - that's now a real stretch for me.
But it leaves us needing JUST $85 - can we interest one more - or would Ibn Saeed now find this, or some, possible?
I was luke warm on this featiure at the start but have come to see how much it will improve the checkout process and the likelihood of more completions.
It will help if all contributors could leave their e-mail addresses, I have Ibn Saeed's, Dans, and Dio's. Mine is:

* Five5 - it seems to me unreasonabe to put you in for $200 - unless you are feeling very generous. For now could I assume that you will match me?

Rishit_Khandelwal - thank you.
Will you [everyone] either give you e-mail address or mail me; then we can organise to make our payments to Viart to get this going at last.
Me $152
Five5 $152
Rishit_Khandelwal $151
Dio $ 70
Dan $ 75

Thank you Alan
Dio has also mailed me to confirm his contribution.
I have Dan's details so he is also in.
That means that with Five5 and Rishit_Khandelwal - we have to put in $127 each.
The cost each is coming down.
Five5 and Rishit_Khandelwal - will you please send me your e-mail addresses?
Chris

I now have the e-mail from Rishit Khandelwal
We are just waiting for Five5 to contact
Chris
SajMalik
17 Dec 2009 4:15 PM
We also have David_at_WSS in at $75.
That now means the following contributions -
Me $101
Five5 $102
Rishit_Khandelwal $102
Dio $ 70
Dan $ 75
Alan_G $ 75
David_at_WSS $ 75
vic140 says he expects he will join us after it is completed - I propose to equally share out any late comer contributions once everyone has had their own contribution reduced in this way to the base level of $70.
I hope that is fair?
Chris

Ok everyone, I now have e-mail confirmations from everyone - glad to be sharing with you all.
NEXT:
I will prepare my brief to Viart based upon what had already been said - and publish it here. Hopefully before Christmas.
Given that Viart is unlikely to start before the next upgrade release is ready for launch that means we have two or three weeks to ensure that we have it right. Even so, the sooner we get it to them the better.
Everyone can then make any final comments to be sure that we are all OK with it; then I will send it to Viart and ask each contributor to make their payment to Viart.

and I will advise where payments go once Viart has started.
