As a repeat purchase business we want to give our customers reasons to keep coming back.

I would like to emulate the loyalty systems used by the supermarkets.
This may be:

1: Total up sales values of purchases over a selected period (eg quarterly or half yearly) and give loyalty points/discounts to be spent against next order. The software would allow the customer to view accrued "points" or values - and select to redeem them at the end of the period.

2: Total up numbers of orders placed and be automatically given rewards similar to the above

I second that thought.

I have this setup in my oscommerce shopping cart.

Viart should have this implemented

Well, I have other carts that do not get near to this so for me it would be a real plus.

I recognise that many shops are not in the regular repeat business like me (I am, effectively, a supermarket) so I would even pay a fee for this as an add-in module.

Hello ChritopherO,

I can chip in money for this addon as well.

I think you could pass the hat around on this one - I expect that there are several of us prepared to finance this.
Perhaps you could ask for names and then let us each know our share of the cost so that we could each pay you and share in the result!!!!!

Maybe we all can contribute.

Hello AjnabiZ

That's an interesting idea but I would be happier to have Viart organise this.
I simply suggest that all those who offer to share this add their names to this thread and then Viart can give us a price that we can share.
The alternative is for Viart to create this as an 'add-on' that users can purchase as required. This would require Viart to estimate the numbers of buyers for this feature and offer us a price for buying it based on this.
I expect that Anjula will respond once she finds time in her busy schedule to price this and respond. Smile

Hello christopher.

I agree that it should be handled by Viart.

I just gave an option which can be tread upon.

I think it would be best if Viart can organise a
"Proposed Core Modules Sponsorship Program."

Were the present customers can sponsor modules either individually or collectively.

I think it would be better to add them into the Core of Viart rather than have them as Add-Ons. If its addons then there will always remain the possibilty of compatibilty issues with future updates of Viart.

Hello AjnabiZ

I really don't mind how Viart handles the pricing and delivery — that is their business of course.

I only mentioned Add-Ons as that is what I have with my other cart and it is tremendously helpful:
- the software house has a lower base price for the product which is good for sales
- users only pay for what they want
and it is no problem for Add-Ons to be updated when the core program changes.

I feel that this is now down to Viart if the want to do anything about this feature request; but I would encourage any others interested in this to give their comments in the hope that we can persuade Viart!

Hello ChristopherO

I have just received a quotation for "Recover Cart Sales"

It works in the folllowing manner:

1). Customer visits the site and registers for an account.

2). Customer then places some products/items into his Shopping Cart

3). Customer goes through the checkout steps but at the final confirmation or any checkout page, the customer decides to close the site or not to place the order.

Now when this happens, I get a notification that there is some Carts for Recovery. I go to the page and see which ones. If I want to see, lets say, the carts which were abandoned during the Past 60 days. I select the option and I get those carts details with the name of the customer and the products which are added into his cart along with the prices etc.

Now there is a option to send an email to all of those who abondaned their Shopping carts, with the following wordings

""""""
Thank you for stopping by Domain and considering us for your purchase. We noticed that during a visit to our store you placed the following item(s) in your shopping cart, but did not complete the transaction.

Shopping Cart Contents:

1 x Product 1 (http://www.domain.com/products_id=88)

1 x Product 2 (http://www.domain.com/products_id=100)

We are always interested in knowing what happened and if there was a reason that you decided not to purchase at this time. If you could be so kind as to let us know if you had any issues or concerns, we would appreciate it. We are asking for feedback from you and others as to how we can help make your experience at Arabian Bazaar better.

PLEASE NOTE:
If you believe you completed your purchase and are wondering why it was not delivered, this email is an indication that your order was NOT completed, and that you have NOT been charged! Please return to the store in order to complete your order.

Our apologies if you already completed your purchase, we try not to send these messages in those cases, but sometimes it is hard for us to tell depending on individual circumstances.

Again, thank you for your time and consideration in helping us improve our website.

Sincerely,
"""""""""""""""""""""'

This is an excellent way of recovering abandoned carts, I have recovered a lot of abandoned carts in this manner.

If Viart can establish a "Proposed Core Add-ons Sponsorship Program." Then those who are willing to pay for an Add-on can chip in and help with the cost of the Add-on

Where by, Viart can earn money and we, the merchants can get our needs fulfilled. Moreover, this would further improve Viart.

Thank you . . . but I am not sure what this has to do with Loyalty Cards?

AjnabiZ (Guest)
AjnabiZ (Guest)
It was an idea.

It is not just about Loyalty Cards.

it is about other features as well. If there is Sponsorship program, we can contribute towards the development of specific add-ons. Not just one add-on

SajMalik

I am sorry AjnabiZ, I respect what you are saying but the real issue is not how to pay but how to get a Loyalty Card facility on site. I am sure the question of costing will follow but this thread is only meant to be about —

Loyalty Cards - Loyalty points - or whatever.

I would rather not get sidetracked Smile

Hey guys,

Has this been resolved? I'm looking for the exact thing. It's the main thing keeping me from Viart.

Loyalty points is now a feature. You give points for products bought and these can be redeemed later - see the manual for details.

Good Luck - go for Viart, it is a great program and constantly updating and responding to user requests.

Yeah, I see that, but it's not good enough to enable full loyalty - here's why. I belong to a loyalty program at a major Big Box Electronics store here in USA. They have Loyalty Rewards Program, then send you Bonus Coupons, that give you $5/off, $10/off, etc... basically like a gift certificate.

The KEY point here - these little coupons Expire on a certain date, for example 30-45 days after they issue them and mail them to you. I would like to see a loyalty program (cards for example as the title stated), that expire on a certain number of days after they are issued.

Does anyone else see the value in this?

Thanks,
-Brett

Not in the UK - it would be seen as a rip off.

There was a TV program that asked big stores why their gift vouchers [customers buy them in store to give friends as gifts] had an expiry date given that they had taken the customers' money.

I would feel that I am cheating my customers to give them bonus points and insist they use them by a certain date or I will not honour them.

The value of the Viart set up is encouraging return visits - and if a customer takes a while to return that's OK.

I was given a gift voucher when I bought something recently.

It said it was valid three months and I felt it was a bit of a cheat - as though I was being forced back into the shop rather than being rewarded.

What was the point?

To make sure I came back? Well, I had the voucher so of course I would.

To make me buy earlier - I might, but then my purchases would last longer and my next visit would be delayed. So they ensure I buy again soon but they also leave me with a feeling of being pressured Searching

To reward my loyalty? Great - be generous!
