Hi, i've been shopping around for a php shopping cart and is very please to be here. However, i would like to clarify a few points before purchasing it.
1)can i use dreamweaver or frontpage to customise the pages?
or just the in built cms system?
2) i would like to use a dropdown menu for the top nav bar instead of the one provided in the temp. is that possible?
3) can i add flash components to the site? eg, a slide show.
4) is it possible for me to add a shipping carrier and track the deliveries online? if possible, how should i go about doing it? I'm intending to use singpost.
5) does the coupon expire? sorry for asking as i do not know how this coupon system work.
thank you for the time to review my questions!
regards,
ms

Well you can customise the pages any way you want actually. The templates are just individual html files. Just basic html files that contain the basic layout. You can gut it all if you want. and put the blocks where you want. If you want it to retain some of its time saving features, you can just make sure you design with the understand of what needs to be kept in order to use the layout feature in the script. In other words, if you want to be able to be lazy later and just move blocks around, don't gut the thing out like a maniac.
You can change the menue to anything you want. You can make your own menus. You would just hyperlink the menu layout to your cart pages.
You can add flash. Make a custom block of any flash movie and put it anywhere you want on the site. I've used custom blocks to put flash videos on my site, whimpy players, steaming video... The whole sha bang.
You can do that with the shipping too.
The coupons do expire.
If you haven't already, download and install the fully working free version. :)

thank you very much piedpiper! i'll take a look at the free version and give it ago. I was trying out the free cart from shop-script and they seem to be using smarty which i've just learned to use. If the cms system on vicart is just as easy to use, i'll certainly be opting this.

Hello ms
MENU
====
I have two menus -
1: A js menu I have added as my product portfolio is very large and growing. It does not fit easily with the Viart set up - at least not for my personal references.
2: The Viart top menu with drop downs - in built
I am not sure how many levels deep it can go but I have two so far - see Info > Catalogues
You can see these at www.malikstores.co.uk
As for the rest - have a go.
I am sure you will not be disappointed.
