OK guys, Viart have agreed to a special price for this feature given that it will eventually become a valuable part of the Viart offering.
 
They have reduced the price from $600 to $450. I feel that this is a very fair price to pay for such a feature now.
 
This is the LAST option to take this up - as it is. No more trying to change or add elements, please!!!
 
All I need is to have some commitments, please. If you want to join me and have this feature very soon please leave your response. This will be on the basis of at least three sharing ($150 each) and, hopefully four or more reducing the cost for this compellingly valuable feature to a ridiculously $125 or less.

I propose that each person making a commitment pays Viart and Viart can do the work when everyone has paid.

I agree with Dan. Viart double dip till the cows come home and I think it needs to change.
I do not mind paying considerably more for upgrades (yearly fees) as long as great features are added. I do not liek paying for example $600 for something they on-sell as added features- end of story, call me selfish!! (I'd pay nothing more than $100 for a desperate feature which they then add for free to the package)

on2dvd - I am trying to finalise this and not extend it with opinions about the rights or wrongs of it.

Chris, I dont think that each of us should be paying seperately to Viart.
 
Just look at the Order Editor feature, how it ended? No one knows who paid or even if the feature is being worked on.
 
I think, you would collect the funds through Paypal Donation and when all of the volunteers have paid, you can then pay Viart in one transaction.
 
This is the only way I would join, otherwise, paying seperately to viart without knowing who has paid , how much is left , is pretty much useless.

To be honest, Ibn, I don't have much expectation. We get all this enthusiasm for a great feature but when it comes to paying all goes quiet; if people want to share they will pay, however this is organised. Even using the donations you had to cajole and persuade.
 
I am rapidly losing in interest in getting shared interest in a new feature and this is the test - I get tired of reading comments from people who want the earth for a handful of peanuts.
 
We will know who has paid because Viart will tell me and if we don't get payment from everyone I will just ask Viart to refund.
 
I will wait to see whether I get three or more pledges. I will hold everyone to an honourable commitment and we can then get this done.
 
You are one contributor I have come to like and trust so if you pledge I have no doubt you will pay.
 
With you and me - there must be one or two more keen to share and all I need at this stage is a pledge here in this thread - NOW???

Would the person whose code it is have to register and its created then? Could we also assign points to the user who advertsied is as well as setting a discount on the purchase for the new customer?

When a customer registers they are allocated a customer reference number - that number will be their "code" for referral. Every registered customer can introduce a friend and be rewarded when that friend buys; there is no more that needs to be done for customers to set this up!
 
Both customer referrer and introduced customer can be given rewards - or just one of preferred.

What we get may not be perfect for each of us but we can then get additional features added on individually of we want. At least with this main core item which means that we each get $600 worth of custom programming for $150. It can't cost much for extra bits if you want them added afterwards

Excellent..it will be good for someone in viart to post here as well and make a list of a concise deliverable and what it will contain...along with timescales...this is so that we know what is being delivered, then functionality and what we can achieve. I understand you have highlighted the core requirements, but it would be good to ensure Viart make a commit statement.

This is it:
 
1. When any user of the site use 'Tell a Friend' function and send some invitation to his friend an additional parameter will be appended to the url with user login or id information like http://www.example.com/some_link.html?friend=friend_name
 
This 'additional parameter' can be used by admin in newsletters to those customers (eg admin can send a message to each customer with their individual codes)
 
BOTH customer and friend can get benefits** from the introduction.
** such as discounts, free product, free shipping
Apply discount if customer's friends bought some products:

I just had an email from Viart with a question but thats fine.
 
My only question was that can we limit it so that the new user can only use the introductory code Once?
 
So lets say you have a code which you send to your friend. We, as the store owner, set a 5% discount on that coupon (thats automaticall generated). So any NEW registrations that come, get 5% off and the source who owns the code, gets x points per $ spent (you said this was being delivered so thats fine). But also, as you can appreciate, you wouldnt want that now "new" user, to be able to use the introductory code again...as that would be self defeating as everyone would keep using it....do you get my point?
 
So a mechanism needs to be place so a) the code can be mass mailed to all and sundry b)once the new user has registered and everyone has been rewarded, they cannot use it again....ONLY new users can ONCE

OK, I will put that as a condition of the coding - it makes a lot of sense.

Agreed....they can obv have any other coupon that the store creates as promotion just not a Introduce A Friend one....otherwise this system will not work as I am sure you have spotted, as it would mean people would ALWAYS get the discount.
