Ok, not sure how your couponing system works, does it allow for 'instant coupons' directly on the product detail pages, or only on the final checkout page?
There's a reason this is very important, a customer entering a coupon, going to basket is much more likely to buy if the coupon is applied immediately from the Product detail page - and discount shows up in basket immediately, then have them wait to get through checkout process (1 or 2 steps later).
Also, do you have to manually generate coupons with this system? Can I limit coupons to a single product, group of products, or NOT specific products?
Thanks,

In 3.4.7 there is a coupon form block that you can display on any page. Not directly next to a box shot though. And on the checkout page you can show the coupons too.
The coupons can be limited to a single product, min/max quality and prices, exclusive, etc. as well as manual or automatic application of the coupon. Expiration can be set as well as max. number of times it may be used.
Afaik generation of the coupons is manual.
We have one problem with them and that is if the customer has two same products in the basket there is no option to prevent the coupon being applied to only one of them.
