I am a great artist and animator I am trying to make simple changes to a couple current sites for a friend/possible employer. but i am used to flash and front page web building programs where you can see what you are manipulating. I cannot tell what the hell I'm doing please someone help. just a few clues where are all the images etc that are currently on the sites

I am getting a little further so maybe I can narrow down the question i can only the change the width of blocks not the length. How can I do this? Also the very top of the page the site logo home products etc. is to long but i can't find it it is not a block?

I tend to use custom blocks to add flash or pictures in. Then set them up in the CMS.and then adjust sizes and view on a separate tab . works for me Cheers Colin

To change the block width go to the CMS Settings page... choose the page you wish to change and then you can adjust the with of the columns at the bottom of the screen... in %.
 
As for the logo, it will display exactly the width it is. So if you want it narrower you'll have to manipulate the logo in Photoshop or something and upload it again.
 
The logo is set up in System/Global Settings.
 
Keep in mind that nothing and I mean nothing will be easy to change in the code. You have to manipulate things through the Admin panel, or the CSS file for the website.

What i am noticing is that the custom blocks and pages are very easy to manipulate. just as are the custom pages.
 
But I find that there are many aspects of the current web site i am working on that simply i cannot find. or i am finding them and the only way to edit them is through html code and even then it gives me an error saying "____" did not save because blah blah crap crap I have all the permissions so maybe i am missing something someone please help. and thank you guys for the help thus far.
