Can you add in both the Public and Administrative section, an option that should be available that allows for two different types of ticket views.
 
The Classic view gives viewers a comfortable forum type layout, and the option to use the Collapsed view gives you the ability to close certain posts using JavaScript functions.
 
The Collapsed view leaves more room when tickets start to crowd the screen during longer support issues.
