I don't believe there's the possibility to delete products this way... although there should be.

I understand that if you upload a set of records to a mySQL database these can overwrite the existing files but they will not change or delete other records.
This is not a Viart matter - it is how mySQL works I guess?
I recommend that you select these products in admin to delete them. You can delete any number of records in one action

Chris:
Deleting products with ViArt is a strenuous task. You have to delete products individually. For instance, I have 6k of one category of products, so I have to delete like 50 products at a time as it only lists them in columns of 50. (maybe it's even 25). It's very time consuming deleting products. I've suggested with Viart to delete all within that category as an option as well as option to delete products in database that have no category assigned, as you can delete categories and then products are in the database sitting in limbo.

Yes Dan, I agree, it is an issue.
Have you had a response from Viart?

I've sent in a ticket about it. I think they'll want it to be custom work. THis to me is NOT custom work... it's a flaw in the system... I'm waiting for their response.

Yes I agree this should be included as standard, it is not an addition its a fix.

They said it will be released in the next version. I really get irritated when people say "in the next version". It's as if they're just trying to put you off...

Yes, Dan, but you know how often versions are released so perhaps you'll get this mid year

so it will take 3 months before I can clean up the products in my database that's slowing my cart down...
this has got to be more efficient. I don't see how they've opporated as long as they have without some of the most important features
1.) Order Editor
2.) Usable (Realistic) call center
3.) Ability to delete all products within a category.
4.) etc.

OK I agree they are essentials. The only alternative is custom coding then?
1 If you want Order Editor, that's happening (I hope) http://www.viart.com/order_editor_1.html
2 Call Center - could be covered in [1] above?
3 OK - do what most of us do - ask Viart for the feature and if you want it ahead of the next release and pay for some custom coding
4 Can't answer that, sorry

Hi
OK so I haven’t been here as long as you guy’s so is this how it works, if you need a feature adding NOW you pay for it yourself or club together, is it then added to the shopping cart for everyone else?
Would I be able to create my own mods to use on my store?
Would I be able to distribute mods I have made to others be it for free or a small charge?

That's OK, we all came new to this, but you will find we are all also keen to help
"is it then added to the shopping cart for everyone else?" yes - at the next upgrade - unless you pay full development costs to have it as a unique feature and that is quite a lot more $$$
" create my own mods to use on my store?" - nothing to stop you - it is virtually open source
" distribute mods I have made to others be it for free or a small charge?" I don't see why not. But you may find reluctance as we fear that future Viart developments may conflict with your mods and that means potential risk for our businesses.

The Admin import / export functions are not useful if you managed a large number of products at one time.
We use myPHPadmin to manage our MySQL databases. Viart does not offer a developers guide or database map, it takes a little time to figure out the database, -- once that's done it's fairly easy to manage.

I agree with Wazoodle on the import/export. It's very imperfect. If you're uploading a large file, it either times out, or it takes the file a miss-arranges it when it loads in...
