Hello Wes,
These problems could be due to the uploading Zend Encoded files in 'includes' folder.
The files within the 'includes' folder should be uploaded in BINARY mode within your FTP program.

Can I assume you are referring only to the php files ? If so, I will try to re-upload them in binary format.

Yes, mainly the /includes folder causes such problems.
