I have asked several questions through the forum, and I don't get a response. My posts sure get a lot of hits - maybe I should find some pay-per-click advertisers?
Just wondering who answers these forums questions?

if you want support from viart send a support ticket, the forum is user to user support for the most part

That is the sad part, only a few people actually answer questions on these forums and I can never understand why that is.
We are all users and supposed to try and help each other and yet we all seem either hesitant to help or have no clue in what we are doing (which I don't think is the case).
Come on users lets try to answer and help each other.
I would like ViArt to start another section for ideas other people have done on their shops, perhaps provide a link to their shops so we can all see how each of us conduct online business. We will not affect each others business, in fact I think we will help it.

I bought X-Cart before Viart. The forum was well serviced by the developers of X-Cart, as well as integrators/developers that use their product. Although I feel that viart is a better product for MY application....I am getting a little concerned that this product doesn't have enough adoption.
Foxtrot - you are right about your comment. I really think that the people responding to the posts created a solid networking group camaraderie and helped me feel comfortable that people were using the product. there was also a X-Cart engineer responding quickly and often to posts.
I have one post in this forum that has received over 2400 hits in 6 days and NO replies from anyone!!!!

n152sm - where I have had a question that needed immediate help I found the Viart help desk excellent.
This is how Viart works - they support you as an individual customer; if you don't give them a chance to help you there is no point in nagging on about it here.
In this forum we, as users, share. If you did not get an answer it is possibly because no-one had an answer for you .... ask Viart and smile

Chris, n152sm does make a couple of valid points. Although I agree that ViArt's support staff is excellent and I have the utmost respect for them.
His/Her point that one of the developers or support staff should try and respond to queries within the users forum is legitimate (and I know they do it once in a while).
If a question goes unanswered by the users, then ViArt should respond. If a user send a support ticket directly to support then the rest of us NEVER get to see the answer.
In this case you have had 2400 hits, and going with your theory that none had an answer or even a hint of solution then support should answer it. If he gets a private solution from ViArt then there are perhaps 1200 users that missed out on it (going with the assumption that at least 50% of the users were interested in the question to begin with).
I still think we should have another section with tips and ideas to share.

I acknowledge that you make a valid point foxtrotdomains, I have often had such thoughts about how the forum operates.
But given that it is how it is, it seems sad that n152sm just keeps banging his head on the wall rather than go with the way things are and save the headache.
Only Viart can decide to change the way they communicate, it is their business after all. All our best endeavours - and moans and gripes - will fall on fallow ground and just waste hot air.
Pragmatism, that's all
Open a support ticket, n152sm, get your answers, and live a happy life.

I think all these posts don`t increase Viart sales
If I were a new customer... I`d think twice To Buy or not to Buy
looking at user "banging his head on the wall" The problem has two solutions.
1. Viart staff answers all users questions at forum.
2. Viart Communities help users with their problems if user doesn't get answers from other users There is only one way - support ticket.
We suggest the second
Here is a clean sheet of paper
Chris, you are right - as the old adage goes: it is what it is, whether you think it is or think it's not, it still is.
However, I am hopeful that my post would cause Viart to wake up a little and realize that even if they have a great product - it will only get better if they share tips through their forum. Rather than handling case-by-case, they could respond once and handle thousands of potential requests and make the customers happier because they could get the job done quickly doing their own "forum searches".
(which is what I would like to provide my members with....the ability for them to search my forum and help themselves! - so if someone could respond to my forum search bar post, I would be on my way!!!! )

by the way - I did submit my request and after a few days wait the response was that it would involve custom work. So maybe Viart doesn't want the forum to be helpful so they get more custom work ?

I think that if we stop straining our futile energies on a matters that have no solution, we will continue with a user-co-operative forum and people with solvable problems will continue to get get help from fellow users, like me, where possible.
Let's stop exhorting Viart to run their business according to our own particular models or preferences.
If no other user can help you, n152sm, then it is down to the custom coding that you've been offered?
As I said, reduce the blood pressure risk and go for a happy life
