Is there a way to completely disable some of the fetures?
 
eg I dont need forum & ads
 
...just want is to be simple!

You don't need to disable the features, just user access. Again, I'm using the standard edition (which in some respects has less features than the free edition...) but you should be able to go to ViArt CMS > Site Layout > Site Navigation and just uncheck the menu items you don't want (presumably, MENU_FORUM) you could also delete them here if you want.
 
Losing the reference in the footer is just as easy but perhaps less intuitive, I've got a post in this forum somewhere about how to do that...

You can also just remove the reference to it in the template file. I did this with the forums because I never use the VIART menus so disabling user access by unchecking things in the menu was out.

PiedPiper, may I ask what menus you use if you're not using ViArt menus?

As for the front end link: 'Free Ecommerce Shopping Cart Software by ViArt' it is automatically removed after you purchase a license (for ViArt Light, Standard or Enterprise) and activate it.
