Is ther a way to change the page width globally?
 
I want reduce the width of all pages and control the background colour for the page and the background separately, and can't see a way of doing this with the current layout. A new div would need to be added and I don't want to have to do this on every page.

How did you do this as I am having a similar issue, particularly when the site is viewed on various resolution laptop screens (they arent the same or standardised) so I am trying to build for most common.
 
Issue I am facing is that if the users screen or browser window is smaller than my design, its starts getting squashed as well
