Is there a way to change the amount of infomation in this block? For instance: http://www.st-pcs.com/products.php?category_id=60 . I would like to only display a Picture of the product, the price, rating, quantity, and add to cart. I would like the rest of the "options" to show up if you actually click on the product or a "customize product" button.

I have customised mine like this - www.malikstores.co.uk
I can tell you how I changed mine if it seems I am in tune with your needs.

Matt, thanks for the message you e-mailed me through my site:
<< If you could help with the layout of the product page for my site it would be great. Your site looks great! >>
I believe in the value of exchanging ideas and info in this forum as we all benefit — I get a lot from reading other people's threads.
If you want to start with the menu:
I use my own menu set up as I have so many categories and sub categories and the need to display product often in several of these that I prefer to maintain this control like this - and I have easy management over appearance.
First you need to fix the left column width.
I do this with a custom block that is the width of my menu and deep enough to move other left column blocks below the menu. This block contains the image " Menu ".
To get this menu you need to go to www.milonic.com
It is a good explanatory site. You will need to add the javascript provided in the header of the index & products page [templates/user] and any other pages where you want it to appear - pages that don't have column control in admin need to have a left column added to the template file - and I use a 1px spacer.gif file, expanded to 145px, to peg the width and stop the column from collapsing - I am sure this can be done better with css and perhaps someone else will chip in here?
Your menu can look however you want and I recommend following milonic explanations.
Product layout.
You need to edit templates/user/product.html
Backup the file and then try moving or deleting blocks to get the layout you want. And you can add explanatory text if you want.
What else?
Remember, I am a marketing professional, not a programmer. I know what I like but get frustrated at time trying to achieve it. Perhaps some programmers can come in with tips?
Regards
Chris

I am still fumbling through the templates trying to find the right sections. For now I only whant to focus on the product pages not the menus. But my issue might be a little more complicated, as I do not beleive that you have an products with "options". I have found how to leave the "details" section out of the product list page. I will keep you posted on what I come up with.
Thanks for your help!

With some help from Viart I was able to change the look of the product list page. OK....here is their instructions.
Please, go to your Amin panel> Products> Products&Categories>Options&components> Edit Component Selection and deselect the check boxes in the 'Show Component' field. Not to show subcomponents information on the listing page deselect the 'on products list page' check box.
Do not forget to update your changes.
Now I will move on to the menus.

Keep in mind:
Point (1) - The milonic menu uses javascript for building DHTML menus.
Point (2) - Search Engines don't like javascript anything, so placing your global links on a page using only this method and you'll be wondering why GOOGLE does not spider and consequently index your pages.
This problem can be over come but more work will be required!

Hi Tony
Point (2) - yes that is an excellent point; 'though Milonic claims that Google does track their menu [?].
Like you I also provide links on pages as well as the Viart site map that I have also linked to Google search.
I would prefer to use the Viart menu but it results in a very long list with my product range - with Milonic I can nest indefinitely as well as repeat categories with different names for easier visitor use.
