Is Shared SSL possible with Viart?
Global Settings won't let me input my Shared SSL setting
Error:
Hostnames for Site URL and Secure Site URL should be the same like http://www.example.com/ and https://www.example.com/
Thanks in advance

Unfortunately... you would need to get two licenses from what I'm seeing...
I purchased a ssl in order to correct that problem.

Thanks for responding Dan
I am trialling Viart and mostly like it so far but the issues that are deterring me from Viart are so far:
1. No Shared SSL
2. Too many javascript pop-ups eg when changing qty in cart, the user doesn't know what to do until all of a sudden they click out of the qty box and up pops the pop-up
A recalculate link or button, something visual, would be more intuitive than guessing that a pop-up will pop-up
3. I don't like the concept of the categories coming under Products.
I won't be using the top level product. With so many products, I need to sort them out in categories. To list them in the top level product would send the customers
But if I don't use the top level product category, the products link in the breadcrumb returns nil products
4. the default templates aren't very pretty
Other than that, I am impressed but I now have to rethink cos of no shared SSL :(

most hosting companies have reasonably priced ssl. its not bad... maybe like 40 a year and prevents people from seeing that its shared hosting which is a deterrant to most customers as they feel its a small company they're dealing with.
you can disable pop up notifications in the system easily.
as far as a company, I really like viart. their support is second to none. I haven't had any issues with them.
the templates are sorta icky, but you can do a lot with css so that helps, or you can modify the html templates to your needs.
you won't be saddened at all with viart... just amazed! im sure of it.

Thanks Dan. The SSL certificate is cheap. I can get one for 20 dollars/year. But I also require a Static IP address and that's around $100/yr which is where the expense comes in. Not that $100/yr is expensive but I don't like throwing money at websites until the website starts earning.
But, the good news is - I just installed version 3.5 and it looks like we can now do Shared SSL
I haven't fully tested it. Was so excited, just had to come back in and post. Hope it doesn't end up being a false alarm
Thank-you Viart !!!!! Thank-you, thank-you. You have made me very happy

If you really are serious about ecommerce, then you should definitely invest in your own dedicated SSL cert.
I suggest that you should not use a shared ssl for selling online. Also, its pretty cheap.
That's all very well but my server can only support one SSl and one shared ssl. [No offers to move to another server please - I've been that route].
So, if I don't use a shared ssl I have to use PayPal Standard or Google etc. Iit's not a matter of price.

I have Shared SSL working on V3.5 for User SSL for "on payment details pages"
I haven't tried the other User SSL settings yet
3.5 still won't allow Shared SSL for Admin, gives the error message about must be same name as domain name
I'm wondering if it's just a simple case of removing the domain name check from the code. Just wondering, haven't got the time right now to check it out thoroughly.

I have spent a small amount of time testing and have found that Viart still does not do SSL properly.
It sort of works but not really. For example, if use login is set to use shared SSL, the "Free Ecommerce Shopping Cart Software by ViArt" message appears on the bottom
The user is also not sent to user home but has to click on a link to get there.
If "on payment details pages" is set to use shared SSL, the cart does not clear after payment
Admin settings cannot be set to use shared SSL. Error that comes up is the usual "Hostnames for Site URL and Secure Site URL should be the same like http://www.example.com/ and https://www.example.com/"
Sorry, try another ecommerce package Most allow shared SSL

So I have to forget shared ssl.
I already have one site with an ssl - the other four in my multi site set up will have to use standard PayPal.

Chris....
There's a workaround for this. If you copy your store to the "secure" folder, this will place it secure. Then just re-direct to your secure folder

Hello,
For latest versions we made it possible to use a shared SSL for one option only - on the payment details pages (you can activate this option via Global Settings). For all other options a Shared SSL won't work.
With kind regards,
ViArt Support Team

Anjula, is this something ViArt is looking to modify in the upcomming future releases? I'm sure that this shouldn't be that much of a process to implmement?!
