To add banner rotation to the banner feature would be a major improvement.
Having six banners in a group - all displayed at the same time - is demanding on screen real estate!
I was surprised not to find an option for banner rotation.

Chris. This is very possible.
As long as you have the rank settings all the same. For example, set all banners ranks to "2" and hold rank "1" for specials that you always want shown for a short period of time.
When you use the CMS to add a banner group to a page you can select how many banners to display on the right (in properties)

Thanks on2dvd - but having done this, all banners still show together on the page; all that changed was the order in which they were displayed.
All my banners except one have rank as "2" and the other is "1". In the banner group all are shown in the right hand panel to show.
Perhaps I have misunderstood something?

When you add the banner group to the CMS page you highlight the options for the banner group to the right of the screen (a bit above) in these options you must choose display 1 banner at a time.
BTW, having one banner at rank 1 (I think) will have it always show and the others not (but not 100% sure)

Of course it is obvious when it is pointed out.
I have it now, thank you for the help.

Still not rotating, on2dvd!
I can set to show 1, 2 or more in CMS but that just selects the first, first 2 or whatever and displays all on page together.
Selecting ranks numbers just seems to affect the order of display

If i have all rankings the same they rotate, do you have one set lower? That's the point of rankings, if you have rank 1 it will always show. My suggestion to hold rank 1 free is so that when you have a ripper special you can set a banner to "1" without changing rankings of all of them. Then when it's over, change back to "2" and it's back to rotation.
Is this not working for you?

Well it's wierd, then
I have five banners each set with Rank=2
And they all show permanently.
When I refresh the screen they change order.
Q: Do you know: If you had some ranked 2 and some others ranked 3 would you get two rotating banners?
Q: I presume there is no method to control rotating speed?
I guess I need to submit a ticket.
I am possibly one of the most pro-Viart; I take a view that even with half the features I still have excellent value. But I get increasingly frustrated that features like this are not fully documented - I read the manual on Banners which says nothing about rotating:
" Rank field is obligatory for filling. This field requires entering the position you want your banner to appear on the site. "

Surely you have not seen what I am talking about. When you click on the banner group to add it to a page- to the right and up above a properties tab appears and you select how many banners to display at once.
Q1. Sorry, haven't tried.
Q2. No it seems to random

When I select one I get one at a time - but they do not rotate. They just change when the the is refreshed.

You don't have to have 6 banners showing at once...
I know what you want (now). You want it to rotate like a flash advert can but it can't with a simple jpeg banner placeholder.
I would definately like to see banner groups support .swf files but I can't see it happening (is it possible Viart?)

- just a simple script that displays the images in turn.
It does not need flash. The alternative might be animated gif except that this would not give me a different link for each image?

correct and if you charge for adverts then you wouldn't be able to track the clicks and such...
