Is there a way to list multiple weights for an item that I'm overlooking?
Let's say I'm selling a bottle of sauce with 24 ounces of sauce in it. I'm going to advertise this as a 24 ounce bottle. But due to the packaging, it actually weighs 2 pounds.
Right now, I'm listing 2 pounds in the weight field since this is counted towards shipping. I opted to hide the shipping weight from the customer, then I manually type in the weight of the product in the description.
However, this just doesn't seem logical to me and I think the software should have two weight fields considering shipping weight will be different, and so I'm wondering if I'm just doing it wrong. Is there perhaps a way to pad the weight to allow for packaging and get accurate shipping quotes? On the same note, is there a way to factor in an additional pound or so for the box and filler and add that to the total weight before getting the shipping quote?
Thanks :)

One idea, perhaps, is to modify the weights for shipping.
EG: Shipping break is 5 pounds weight. Allow for packing weight by pricing this step at, say, 4 pounds weight. That way you send you ship at the 5 lbs tariff as soon as the total product weight reaches 4 lbs?
