I do not process cards offline, however, sometimes I need to create an order as someone has no online access and has sent a cheque. Is there currently any way to do this now?
If not, it would be a helpful feature.
Kind regards

question.... what exactly is the call center for? Isn't that supposed to be to create an order?

Yes, it's used to create an order, but can only be used with payment systems that are already set up as advanced in ViArt.

okay, but my question is what makes a payment system advanced? That confuses me. The whole call center is confusing to me. I understand you can use it to create an order if someone calls. It's also very difficult to set up and understand the check/money order system.
I think we either need some easier (automated screens), or else we need to have a more descriptive manual that gives instructions on how to set up offline systems such as credit cards and/or checks

Yeah, hopefully this will be covered in the updated manual.
An advanced gateway in viart is:
*APS systems usually use API source code for supporting services requests. The examples of such systems are: LinkPoint API, Beanstream API, Payoffshore API, PayPal Pro (Direct API),etc…

The reason I want to do this is where I am NOT taking a payment when I create the order - just want to create an order for later payment - or for use with a cheque [check ].
I did not realise that bumping this would create such an interesting response!

I may be missing something, but why don't you be the customer - register the order on your normal website yourself as if it was them? Ideally without creating an account, but if need be you could always do something with say user types or perhaps Cash Sales as the billing address and then the individual customer details as the delivery address if you force user registration.
If need be setup a new payment method for cheques. I've edited the Personal payment system designed for collecting card numbers for offline processing.
Under Payment Systems/Edit System: URL for payment system is unchanged as credit_card_info.php
Under Payment System/Payments Details Page: untick all the payment parameters so no user input is shown or required.
Under Payment System/Final Checkout Settings: I've included the details of where to send cheques in both the emails sent and confirmation screens.
Order display goes: Billing/Delivery Address Screen > Display of details entered > Final Confirmation.
It would be nice to not have the extra screen in the middle but I can live with it.
Hope this helps

Hi,
I will also have this requirement and I'm afraid that this will cause me major headaches. In our current system I can send any item to a client directly from the admin interface.
With Viart this seems more problematic.
Is there any other solution for the except:
1. Going through call center (with payment problem)
2. Doing the process manually as if I was the customer
3. Giving the customer a 100% discount coupon and letting them buy it?

Would any one else be interested in making the "personal" payment gateway advanced?
It means that we could create a new call centre order, and use the personal gateway so the admin system stores the card details - as if it was placed via the user front of the store.
The cost I believe is 100USD which I would be interested in sharing with anyone else interested.
It still doesn't compleately solve the issue of creating a call centre order that is free, or offline payments etc.

Greetings
Hi All
I would prefer that the call center feature allows the administrator to enter customers orders.
Options:
1.From this an order number would be assigned to the customer.
2.Follow by e-mail notification to the customer with payment link allowing the customer to complete the payment process.
It's my understanding if your business is authorized to process credit cards you'll have no problem. Otherwise, accepting customer credit card without proper authorization would be in serious violation if you yourself submit the credit card in behalf of the customer.
If option 1 and 2 are included then you can count me in on the project.

Tony,
I understand what you're saying, and I agree it should be able to do the functionality you're talking about where they can have it have the customer complete the process and/or you do it yourself.
Most store's such as American Eagle and such, can process orders over the phone with the customer giving you their credit card information. For security purposes, I agree that having the customer complete the process would be a great idea to be able to do, but I feel either way should be an option. So now we've got it down to 33 dollars each... lets get 2 more people

There is a problem doing anything with the Call Centre as it does not recognize options and, whilst it is possible to amend the sales description and value the system does not pick up the true cost.
That makes it impossible for a site with thousands of products many with cost/price variation options.
I am still with Kim - I just want to be able to create an order without the longer process of the Call Centre.

A possible solution, please advise if this works out ok:
Taking into account some requests from our clients we have found how to make a Personal system to work with call centre orders without requesting credit card details.
Please, follow the instructions below:
1. Create an empty file (you can use Notepad for this) and save it like: money_order.php.
2. Put this file to the 'payments' folder of your shop.
3. Go to Administration > Orders > Payment System, select Personal Payment system and click the 'Edit System' link.
4. Specify 'order_confirmation.php' in the Payment URL.
5. Go to the Advanced Parameters Section, tick off 'Is Advanced' option and specify 'payments/money_order.php' in both 'Advanced Library' and 'Advanced URL' fields.
6. Scroll the page up and tick off 'Use for Call Center' option.
7. Save the changes by pressing the 'Update' button.
8. Now go to Call Centre Orders and create a test order.

Thanks to Tony this has been changed on the Holleyland site - please demo it!
There may be possible bug on the create call centre page:
On the create a call centre page, the field provence is *, so has to be entered.
However the only data that can be entered is numberic rather than alphanumeric.

Yes, but it still will not handle options and their related costs!

I think that the call center system was on track, however stopped mid stream in what was truly needed. I agree there should be a call in order system, but should not be limited on creating orders alone. It should also be able to create adjustment orders that can be tacked on to already made orders as well as handle options with their related costs...

I have no idea. I think Viart is making strides, however they're not seeming to examine all aspects before adding something. I am still bewilered why an order editor is not included yet when it's been around for so long. How can current users of this system not need to ever edit an order for a cusomer? That's beyond me. Seems to me the software has a lot of could be functions, but i say could be because they're not quite complete

Hi DickS, I understand from Dan that he is doing this - see also Order Editor thread.
That makes three of us on this.
Hopefully we can get more contributors and afford to get Viart to do something really excellent for us!
