I did a new install of 3.4.5 and was impressed with the added functionality.
I want to upgrade my other sites to 3.4.7 (from 3.2 and 3.3)
What is the procedure for doing this?
What if I've customized template files?
Any advice about the pitfalls of upgrading?
Does the install automatically upgrade the existing database?

Please search the forum, I posted instructions how to upgrade.
From 3.2 and 3.3 you will need to update your template files. Compare with the ones in /templates/user/ of 3.4.7 and you will see the difference. There where some deepp down changes in some template files that you must check.
The install script automatically updates the database (see my intructions in upgrade post).
Good luck!

I searched "upgrade 3.4" and came up with only 12 topics - none of which are directions on how to upgrade to 3.4. So then I searched just "upgrade" there are 58 topics for that. That is an awful lot to wade through to find the one upgrade article that I want.
How to update to the latest ViArt Shop version?
To update to the latest ViArt version please do the following:
Ensure that you backup all ViArt files
Backup the database
Replace all files from your current version by new ones (except ones you've changed, e.g. templates, styles, images). The latest version can be downloaded from www.viart.com
You should leave 'old' file /includes/var_definition.php
Run 'Administration > System > System Upgrade' - this step will upgrade your database structure.
I tried to follow DickS's instructions to upgrade from 3.4.5 to 3.4.7. I deleted all the folders he mentioned from 3.4.7 after unzipped, then copied the rest to the 3.4.5 directory. However, when I logged back to admin>system upgrade, it still showed 3.4.5 with the message "the new version was detected" and I don't see any "apply update" button people had mentioned above?
Any help appreciated!

if all files were updated correctly, then you should in fact have to go to administrator privilage settings and turn the upgrade feature on so that you can even click on the link.
