I would like to make a change to the way the site navigation menu works.
It would be nice if I could customize the menu structure based on what website the customer is on. For instance one site may have pages (home, products, contact us) and the other site may have pages (Home, Products, Help Forum, Contact Us).
I would like it if you can go to the Site Navigation Page Under the CMS menu in the admin area and make it so you can select which website a menu item would appear on. Similar to the way to make products appear on certain websites by selecting the sites when you build a product.
This will allow you to customize the menu's for each website to match the content of the other site while running both sites from the same database.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Not quite sure of your request.
Do you mean the horizontal menu below the banner?
If so, you can have a different set of items for each site.
Edit Menu - "Layout" - select which site for that item; and select "Order" for where it appears along the line of items?

You can do this with multisites.
In "Administration > Site Navigation" when editing a menu item you can associate it with a layout. That layout can be associated with a site.
If you want to use the same layout for different sites copy the style, "default" to "default2" for example, and reference the new stye in the menu.
